A new federal law targets toys and other products for children. The law enforces a new provision that makes it a crime to resell anything that's been recalled by its manufacturer.

Inez Tenenbaum, the newly confirmed chairwoman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission is the right person to finally put some teeth behind the CSPC.

Some recent examples of dangerous and defective children's products are the following:

Simplicity bassinets have been linked to at least two infant deaths. Simplicity sold a 3 in 1 and 4 in 1 convertible bassinets that contained metal bars spaced too far apart which made it dangerous to infants. Both models were recently recalled by the manufacturer.

WFAA aired a video in which I talk about the law affecting resellers. The video features a recalled Simplicity bassinet bought on Craigslist.

If you have a Simplicity bassinet, you can return it to the store you bought it from. Get more Simplicity information.
